We're in our 8th year here at P2 and the weather continues to modulate, ebb and flow, like the sea.
In previous years we had our coldest temperatures in January and 2022 continued the trend with horrible, horrible cold weather :-)
In December of 2021 while enduring the remains of the pandemic we ran the pool heater and tried to swim at least every other day. Once we crossed into January, we decided to turn the pool off around Jan 10th because it was costing almost $20 a day to keep it warm. That sort of temperature load also puts a LOT of wear on the heater which is now in its 8th year here.
JANUARY 2022
This was the coldest January we've had since we moved to Florida in December of 2014.
We hit 30-degrees F for about 3 hours on Saturday night (Sunday morn).
We hit 32-degrees for about 3-4 hours on Sunday night (Monday morn).
The coldest temperature happened at around 6-7am, right as the sun was coming up, by 10am we were in the 40's and by noon it was 55 outside.
The banana plants out on the Grand Prix show quite a bit of burn from the cold but overall our plants seem relatively unscathed by the frigid temperatures.
