EGG WEIGHTS AND 50-POUNDER DETAILED PICTURES

Lets look at egg weights. These are not guesses or internet data, this is right from our NOM Kitchen and these weights are from our "Legal Postal Scale".

Here are the weights from smallest to largest:

.8oz, Anomaly Egg - smaller brown egg from Golden Comet (one of the rangers)

1.0oz, Little Blue Bantam egg from "Candy"

1.3oz, Large Bantam egg, laid by Flock1 or Flock2

2.1-2.2oz, Standard large chicken egg, barely fits in egg box (Golden Comets)

3.0oz, 50-Pounder, this is one mammoth egg, thanks Golden Comets

Variety of eggs in various sizes from Standard and Bantam size hens
Standard extra large left, Anomaly middle, 50-pounder on the right

Another look at the 50-pounder (on left), regular large eggs on right

L to R, Anomaly, Little Blue, Standard Bantam, Standard Ex Large, 50-pounder on right

ABOUT ANOMALY EGG
The "Rangers" aka "Corvette" and "Miata" normally lay EXTRA LARGE brown eggs and they're
G R E A T! One day while gathering eggs I looked, fully expecting Extra Large and I got the small brown egg we named anomaly, along with one standard Extra Large Egg. Hmmmmmmm, the finish on the exterior of Anomaly has strange speckles the standard brown eggs don't have.

The next day, one standard Extra Large and one 50-pounder. It's like the day before, one of them laid the smaller one and then the next day, she laid the 50-pounder to make up for the shortage. It's strange chicken stuff and here it is in graphic detail.

Mary has hard boiled "Anomaly" and "The 50-pounder", soon we'll know what's inside. Stay tuned to Chicken TV for up to the minute information that actually matters.

Happy Chickens to You!

EPILOGUE
Our suspicions and guesses were true and here is the proof.

Anomaly egg had NO yoke
50-Pounder had two yokes

50-Pounder really was to make up for the Anomaly egg being so small. Mary said the double yoke egg was delicious. The evidence was eaten, case closed!
TOP = DOUBLE YOKE, BOTTOM = NO YOKE

...a few days later.....

Chickens have been busy laying eggs and we have a new

"RECORD" SIZE TEENY EGG

It came from Flock2 and it only weighs .2 oz. It's really small.

3-days of eggs not including six that had to be trashed due to antibiotics

Teeny egg on left came from Flock2, at only 0.2 oz it's our smallest egg to date

This little egg came from a Bantam hen, we're not sure which one, one of the Minkies or one of the Buzzies.

Our previous teeny egg (Anomaly) came from a standard size hen. At 0.8 oz it was over double the weight of todays Teeny egg which weighed in at only 0.2oz.

In the photo above, the brown eggs are from standard size Golden Comet hens, the lighter colored eggs are from Bantam hens. The Bantam hen eggs have slowly been creeping up in size as the ladies get older.
