PUFF UPDATE, FALL 2022

 WE LOVE CHICKENS

Our five little "Puff" hens

Farrrrrrrrm Living is the life for me! Chickens are now a big part of our lives here at P2. Every morning we get them out of their houses and get them ready for a day of play.

The answer is YES, they have a hard time seeing around the fluff

These little Silkie hens are adorable to look at and they are soft to touch.

It is really hard to tell which one is which, they all look very similar

We just call them "Puffs" because they were just tiny little balls of fluff when they arrived here by airmail on the second day of their lives.

Their beaks and ear lobes are blue, their skin is dark bluish purple and they have five toes

The Puffs are the "Contra Altos" of chicken calls, they have a unique voice that is different from the rest.

Besides having blue skin Silkies have five toes instead of four

The Puffs have no rooster so their eggs are not fertile. Mary has the bright idea that when one of the puffs go broody we'll sneak a couple of fertilized eggs from "Punky and the Rangers" in under her and see what kind of weird chicken we get from the mashup of a Silkie Rooster and a Golden Comet Hen.

In this theoretical world of chicken breeding we would simply let the broody Puff hatch and raise the baby chicks. It's all theory since we're NEVER GETTING MORE CHICKENS (famous last words).
