CANDY LAYS AN EASTER EGG

FRESH FROM THE FARM, WEIRD EGGS ;-)

We have two little "Easter Egger" Bantam hens that came to live with us back at the beginning of September, 2021, they were only two days old, delivered to us via USPS Express Mail. They were incredibly cute little fluff balls when they were chicks but now they're becoming ladies (they're still super cute :-). One baby hen was lighter in color and one was a rich brown color. Mary named the light colored hen "Candy" and the darker one "Bunny" (a definite nod and tip of the hat to Easter in naming these two little hens).

JUST LOOK AT THAT COLOR, THAT'S THE LIGHTS IN THE BATHROOM REFLECTING

The breed is called Easter Eggers because they lay eggs which are light blue or light green. The eggs will stay whatever color they are, they don't continue evolving or changing colors.

Candy has been making odd and loud yelly chicken noises for the last week or so. Yesterday we found out why, and while we did not see 1-to-1 the event as it happened we did see her going into the coop a lot the day before. When Mary checked for eggs she had a surprise waiting for her, our first beautiful little turquoise egg.

Not since our neighbor gave us a box of Duck eggs have we had such a blueish-green egg. It's shockingly beautiful and little.

Nice work Candy! Way to be a chicken. Keep up the good job. Carry on!
