HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRIZZLE!
This little guy came to P2 on day #3 or #4 of his life, no way to be sure, they don't issue birth certificates for chickens. He is now 1-year old and still adorable.
It's birthday month and we were heading out to say party with Fritzy, Mary called to him from the driveway and he came running to see what she was up to, he wanted to play. When Mary walked around to the other side of his play area he ran along beside her, anxious for treats or anything to break up his lonely day. His two girlfriends are currently broody and spending their time in their cottage.
Fritz has a funny way he likes to play. It involves "play fighting" and you gotta move quick in this game. Lately the roosters seem to be employing a kicking technique where they jump up in the air and then kick at you with their feet. It looks a lot more aggressive than it actually is. It's an improvement over the other technique which involves biting and if he connects, it hurts.
Fritz and Mary have had a special relationship since he was a very small rooster. She would go out and sing to him and interact when he was all alone (before he met Marilyn and Tommy, his chicken lady friends). He comes running whenever he sees Mary.
Fritz is a spectacular black Bantam Cochin Frizzle rooster. His brilliant red comb and wattles are nothing short of amazing, so bright and colorful. His feathers are extra super fluffy.
He does not like being held but it's a joy to feel his soft fluffy feathers and he does not try to bite or claw when he's held correctly (fully supported and safe, aka "The Death Grip").
